Ed is retired from the Long Beach Police Department, where he served the city of Long Beach as a police officer for 25 years. The last 8 years of Ed’s career involved education and training at the Long Beach Police Academy. He is a California POST AICC qualified instructor, with certifications in racial profiling, implicit bias, and Community Policing in the 21st Century. Ed has been a certified “Why’d you Stop Me” instructor for approximately 2 years.
He is also a subject matter expert and POST certified instructor for firearms, driving and tactical communications. The early part of Ed’s career was spent working as Field Training Officer in the Patrol Bureau. Post 9-11, Ed was an explosive detection K-9 handler and worked as a Homeland Security Reaction Team Member where he was a hazardous materials technician expert for both biological and chemical weapons.
Ed is originally from the South Bay, and attended West Torrance High School and El Camino Community College. Ed enjoys spending time with his wife Amber, daughter Peyton, and dog Bailey.
