Andy Borrello is a retired Police Captain and 27-year veteran with the San Gabriel Police Department. Andy is a certified California POST Master Instructor, a graduate of Command College, and serves as a POST Training Course Evaluator for the Quality Assessment Program. He has been presenting law enforcement training in multiple subjects for thirty years and specializes in career development, career advancement/promotion, the promotional resume, succession planning, and the promotional oral interview. Andy is the book author of the Police Promotion Super Course, a co-author of The Police Professional: 60 Ways to Lead, and his latest book, Law Enforcement’s Guide to Advancing Your Rank will be available in 2023.
Andy serves as the owner/consultant DBA, POLICE PROMOTE and has taught thousands of law enforcement professionals through one-on-one and small study group consultations/coaching, mentorship, seminars, keynote addresses, and large presentations for agencies and professional law enforcement associations for 22 years. Captain Borrello’s articles have been published in the F.B.I. Law Enforcement Bulletin, Law and Order Magazine, Police Magazine, and Tactical Response to name a few, and he has authored monthly career development columns for the American Police Beat and P.O.R.A.C. Law Enforcement News. His written work has appeared in law enforcement journals, websites, newsletters, college text books and has covered topics such as leadership, management, career development, promotional testing, community policing, risk management, and ethics.
Captain Borrello has worked extensively with California P.O.S.T. over the years and has served as a formal mentor, curriculum designer, symposium presenter, and meeting facilitator. Borrello led meetings to improve and modify Command College and the Executive Development Course. He participated in the update and curriculum revision for the F.T.O. Administrator’s Update Course, designed instructor guides for the Management Course, and created comprehensive investigative case studies for the Robert Presley I.C.I. Core Course. Borrello also serves POST working in their Quality Assessment Program to formally attend and evaluate training courses throughout California.
